How to Know if a Watch Has an Active Market
Many advertisements do not necessarily mean an active market. They can also indicate supply struggling to find buyers. Observe what happens over time.
Track relevant comparisons
Choose the same reference and a similar configuration, recording date, asking price and condition. A removed listing does not prove a sale; it may have been withdrawn or moved. Documented completed transactions provide different evidence when available.
Investigate price dispersion too. Apparently similar examples can differ in accessories, preservation or alterations. Look for those explanations before treating the gap as an opportunity.
Interest is not a purchase offer
Ask whether a professional would buy the watch, accept it on consignment or merely suggest a theoretical range. Each involves different conditions and times.
An active market concerns buyers and transactions, not online visibility alone. Avoid conclusions based on one channel or a few screenshots collected on the same day.
