Rolex 6062 & “Stelline” – A Rare and Sophisticated Elegance
The stainless steel Rolex 6062 is one of the rarest examples of this reference, one of only three in Rolex history to feature a moon phase complication: the Ref. 6062, the Ref. 8171, and the recent Cellini Moon-Phase. Debuting at Baselworld in 1950, the 6062 was the first self-winding triple-calendar moon phase watch with a waterproof Oyster case, distinguishing it from the 8171, which does not have a waterproof case.

An Advanced Design for the Era
At its launch, the 6062 represented a significant technological advance for Rolex, which had just introduced the Datejust in 1945. The 6062 successfully combined a high-end complication, usually reserved for more delicate watches, with the robustness of the sporty, waterproof Oyster case, while maintaining the practicality for everyday use.Materials and Configurations
The 6062 was produced in yellow gold, rose gold, and stainless steel. The dials, available in two-tone silvered and, rarely, black versions, featured various configurations:- "Stelline": star-shaped indexes.
- "Pyramid": triangular indexes at the quarter hours.
- Darts: arrowhead-shaped indexes.
- Diamond indexes: like the famous Bao Dai.
- 3-9 Configuration: with Arabic numerals at 3 and 9 o'clock.
