Rolex Air-Lion-Giant-Tiger

The Rolex "Air" series represents an exceptional and rare chapter in the brand's history. This collection was born from Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf's admiration for the RAF pilots, who during the Second World War made great sacrifices wearing his watches. Their reliability and precision made them ideal companions on critical missions. Rolex introduced a series of watches branded "Air" (Air-Giant, Air-Lion, Air-Tiger), each distinguished by its exclusivity. Among these, the Air-King is perhaps the best-known model, remaining in production to this day, a testament to its popularity and historical significance.

Extremely Rare Air Dials

Watches in this series feature extremely rare dials with custom "Air-XXX" imprints. Among the known references, the 4657 is particularly noteworthy. While many Tudor models bear similar names, the essence of the Air series is rooted in the iconic Rolex Oyster case with screw-down crown and the precision movements that define the brand.

The Air series owes part of its fame to pilot Charles Douglas Barnard, who declared:
"The distinctive qualities of this Rolex watch make it eminently suitable for flying purposes, and I intend to use it on all my long-range missions."
This statement testifies to the reliability and precision of Rolex watches, further cementing their reputation as essential instruments for aviation and beyond. The Rolex Air-Lion, Air-Giant, and Air-Tiger are pieces of history that celebrate courage and innovation, paying tribute to pilots and watch enthusiasts around the world.
