Watch Valuation: What Happens After the Value Is Appraised
After receiving an estimate, establish what it can be used for. A selling indication, insurance document and preliminary investigation serve different purposes. Revisit the assignment before acting.
Read the conditions and limits
Check whether the watch was physically examined or assessed from photographs. Identify excluded components and assumptions. Further checks requested in the report are not already completed.
For a sale, choose the channel and seek offers based on an accurate description. For continued ownership, agree any necessary maintenance. An appraisal neither requires selling nor automatically authorises cosmetic work.
Track later changes
Keep the report, images and date. Update the file after servicing, modifications or new documentation. An old response does not describe the example indefinitely.
If the service concerned authenticity and components, retain that description when sharing it rather than presenting a guarantee of future selling price.
